Eligibility

-Eligible individuals may enroll in Medi-Cal or CHIP at any time. Individuals who do not file taxes and families that include immigrants can still apply for Medi-Cal coverage. Parents who are not eligible for coverage may apply for coverage for their child. Applying for your eligible child won’t affect your immigration status or chances of becoming a permanent resident or citizen.
-Anyone may apply for health insurance coverage during Open Enrollment, which runs annually from November 1st to January 31st.
-Individuals experiencing Qualifying Life Events for Special Enrollment can enroll outside of Open Enrollment periods. Qualify life events include:

-Lost or will soon lose health insurance
-Permanently moved to/within California
-Had a baby or adopted a child
-Got married or entered into domestic partnership
-Returned from active duty military services
-Gained citizenship/lawful presence

How to Apply

Call 855-542-1974 for an initial screening to determine your eligibility for coverage. You will then be connected with an enrollment agent, who will complete your application via phone .You must provide the following information:

-Current proof of address
-Proof of income (most recent pay stub) for all household members
-Federal tax information (e.g., head of household, dependents)
-Social Security number, Certificate of Naturalization, or Residency Card (Green Card) for all those applying for coverage
-Date of Birth for all those applying for coverage
-Information about health insurance any household member receives through their job
