Child abuse is repeated mistreatment or neglect of a child resulting in injury or harm. Child abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, or verbal. The hotline collects factual information about the abuse and assesses the level of endangerment. Information will be forwarded to the appropriate office or, if needed, referred to the DCFS Emergency Response Command Post for immediate intervention in life threatening situations.

How to Apply
To report child abuse occurring in Los Angeles County, call the Child Protection Hotline at 800-540-4000 at any hour. During the evening, at night, on weekends and on holidays CPH will forward the referral to the DCFS Emergency Response Command Post to provide protective services to children in life threatening situations.
